I’m so excited to announce that Sarah Miller has joined Team Lollipop as Studio Manager and Image Magician and all-around calming, everything-is-handled force around the office!
We are so fortunate to have her on our team!
In usual fashion, I’m a bit delayed on making this announcement. Sarah’s actually been with us since January. Or maybe December? At any rate…several months. And already she has made herself right at home at Lollipop Photography and jumped in to make process improvements to elevate our client experience.
How We Met
Sarah and I have been friends for several years, and she came into my life at a very pivotal point.
In fact, she was a catalyst for the launch of Lollipop Photography.
We connected through the company where I was working in 2009. I wasn’t in business yet, but was doing photos here and there for friends and she asked me to photograph her beautiful family.
Working for her was so exhilarating for me, and I knew I wanted to make other families as happy as she was with her photos and her photo experience. But, I was still still working full time for another company and knew I wouldn’t be able to give clients like her my all until I could devote my full attention to photography.
Two years later, I left that company and launched Lollipop Photography, and we have grown exponentially since then! Sarah has followed the progress over the last six years and approached me this fall during a invigorating walk she and I took around Stephens Lake.
She was looking for a change, I was looking for a change.
As they say: right place, right time.
Though we had spent lots of time together while our boys had play dates and such, she and I hadn’t really talked much about her professional background. I would come to find out that it would be a perfect match for Lollipop.
Sarah is a Missouri native and an MU Tiger; her undergraduate degree is in Graphic Design. Sarah’s professional career began in the early 90’s in graphics production and commercial printing.
She relocated to the west coast where she developed a consulting business for printing sales, marketing strategies, and process improvement.
She brings so much to the table but is too modest to talk about it!
Outside the office, Sarah loves to spend time with her family on their sailboat, hiking, biking, traveling, and generally enjoying the outdoors.
Sarah has jumped into her role at Lollipop Photography with both feet, and her role keeps expanding every day. She is such a breath of fresh air and positive energy in the office…she keeps Bryanna and me organized and motivated. At this point, we could not function without her!
Sarah has taken on all the editing for Lollipop Photography, eager to jump in and learn the “Lollipop style” for the colorful, vivid photos that our clients love. And she’s the one that fixes your toddler’s face bruise when he whacked himself on the coffee table the night before your photo session.
As easy as it sounds to just hire an editor or outsource the editing, this task has taken me six years and lots of time, frustration, and money to finally get right. Sarah “gets it.” She is committed to making sure the photos retain their unique Lollipop style, making sure each image (and each person in each image!) looks fantastic, while turning them around in a very timely fashion.
In fact, she’s so fast that Bryanna and I can’t keep up with her lately!
In addition to editing, Sarah has taken on the role of communicating with our clients, making her truly an integral part of our studio. With her 26 years of experience handling her own clients, she is poised to be a fantastic ambassador for Lollipop Photography.
A mom herself, Sarah understands the feelings of excitement and anxiety that accompany scheduling a photo session. She’s here to hold your hand and help guide you through the whole process.
I can’t tell you what a relief it is to know someone is taking care of our clients in such a kind, caring way as what Sarah does. As things have gotten busier for me over the years, it gets harder and harder to communicate with everyone in a timely, professional, personalized manner.
That’s where Sarah steps in.
She is here to take care of you before and after your photo sessions, so that Bryanna and I can fully focus on making sure you and your family have an amazing, memorable photo session experience and beautiful images to treasure for years to come.
So, the next time you get an email from us, it will most likely be from Sarah. Please help me welcome her to the team! We’re so lucky to have her, and I think you will agree!
P.S. I’ve already written this blog post and have no place to incorporate this photo and have it make sense, but I HAVE to share this photo I stumbled across when I was looking for photos of Sarah.
Remember how I told you we connected over play dates with our boys?
I had forgotten one of those play dates was spent taking Valentine photos of our toddlers on a makeshift background in her living room.
Are you ready for this level of cuteness?
The mommy-googles are definitely on for this photo because, technically, it’s terrible.
But, OMG, you guys:
Her son is on the left; mine is on the right.
How we got two toddlers to agree to sit together on a bucket (and why we thought that would make a good photo?!?), I have no idea.
But, oh my cute, I’m so glad we have this!!
What a fun memory!
Thanks for letting me share. =)
Sarah’s beautiful head shots were done by our friend and fabulous photographer, Ashley Turner Photography. Thanks, girl!
